Jaimie Engle guest author to speak on character, cosplay, and books
Port Orange, FL January 18, 2019: “Cosplay allows you to experience the world through the eyes of another.”–Jaimie Engle
Amazon Best-Selling Author Jaimie Engle has been invited to present on the “Art of Character in Cosplay” at the Port Orange Regional Library during the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read Celebration. The library, located at 1005 City Center Circle in Port Orange, Florida, will host Mrs. Engle on February 9th from 11am-1pm, where she will discuss character building as an author, what is cosplay, how does cosplay work, and cosplaying on a budget.
“Masks have been used by man since the beginning of time along with oral storytelling,” shares Engle. “We can on costumes and escape into a reality that is our own or find courage to do something we couldn’t before. There is a freedom in taking on the persona of someone else through cosplay.”
The NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. This initiative broadens our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. Showcasing a diverse range of contemporary titles that reflect many different voices and perspectives, the NEA Big Read aims to inspire conversation and discovery.

Engle will present for 45-60 minutes, with a Q&A session to follow, with photos of her cosplay to include her fictional character Scalvia from her Viking Werewolf novel Dreadlands: Wolf Moon, a Nebula, Bram Stoker, and Shirley Jackson Award Nominee (2017). In the past, she has cosplayed Marty McFly, Jr., Trinity from The Matrix, Garth from Wayne’s World, and Dookie the Unicorn from the Squatty Potty brand to promote her book The Toilet Papers.
Engle will be autographing books and cosplay photos at the all ages event. For more information about the NEA Big Reads at the Port Orange Regional Library visit http://volusialibrary.org/NEABigRead/.
