Author Who Uses Cosplay to Teach Character, Featured Guest

Jaimie Engle to Appear at DeLand Comics & Collectibles Show in January

DeLand, FL, December 2019 – The DeLand Comics & Collectibles Show welcomes guest author Jaimie Engle once again to participate in their convention to share her love of character driven cosplay with fans and patrons. This year’s show will be held at the Volusia County Fairgrounds on January 12th, 2020 from 10:00 am. – 5:00 p.m. located at 3150 E. New York Avenue, Deland, Florida. Additional guests include actor John Martino of The Godfather Series, creator John Crowther, plus many more!

Engle recently presented on Cosplay and Character at the 47th Annual Florida Association for Media in Education event.

“Attending comic cons, like the DeLand show, is one of the perks of being an author. Getting to dress up in my favorite characters or ones I’ve invented and share them in person with fans gets me super excited about what I do!” shared Engle, who will cosplay as Marty McFly, Jr. from Back to the Future, III.

Her connection of pop culture fads with cosplay to teach character was well-received by educators as a great way for kids to conceptualize characters by studying ones they’ve grown to love in both cosplay and literature, to write their own stories.

“We appreciate each and every one who supports this event,” shared Tom Raupp, the show organizer. “It’s an exciting marketplace specializing in comics, toys, records, and collectibles! Focused on local community, it’s one enjoyable event and we look forward to seeing everyone there in January.”

Tickets for the DeLand Comic Con are $5.00 at the door, with children 12 and under free, when accompanied by an adult. Engle will be signing books and interacting with fans all day!

Authors Come Together with Barnes & Noble to Give Back to Friends of the Library in Brandon

Melbourne author invited to share books with readers across the coast

Brandon, FL, November 2019 – Jaimie Engle has called Brevard County home since she was seven, around the time she decided she would be a writer when she grew up. Now, she shares literacy, social issues, and fantasy thrillers with kids and the young at heart through her line of JME Books. Jaimie will be signing books on Saturday, November 2nd, from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble located at 122 Brandon Town Center Drive in Brando, Florida, alongside several incredible local authors.

“It’s a huge achievement to sign books in a brick and mortar like Barnes & Noble, especially as an indie author,” shared Engle, who recently signed a 5-book publishing deal with Texas based INtense Publications. “It’s been a lot of hard work to get those doors open, and I’ve met some amazing people along the way. Getting to travel and share my work with new readers to inspire them to write is my favorite part!”

This summer, Engle visited five Barnes & Noble locations in Central Florida as part of her “Summer Book Bash Tour”, a partnership between the retail bookstore and the author to raise money for the Orange County Library System. Now, she is proud to take part in a similar setup in Brandon, Florida, to benefit the Friends of the Library.

“Friends of the Library are volunteers who work to provide resources and financial support for libraries and library programs,” shared Tracey, Manager of the Brandon Square store in Brandon, Florida. “We are partnering with the local Friends of the Library branches again to raise money for their library programs.”

Along with Engle, the following authors will be available to meet and greet:
